Deaf Chapel

The Assembly of God Deaf Chapel (AGDC) is an interdenominational church that meets at First Assembly of God. Their mission is to provide a place of ministry where deaf people can deepen their relationship with Jesus and reach other deaf people with the gospel of Christ in their own language and culture.

Ministering to the deaf culture is very important to AGDC. Deaf people feel valued and necessary when other endeavor to know, respect, and understand their culture. American Sign Language is the language of the deaf, uniting them as a unique linguistic group. Because deaf people often feel that Christ is inaccessible, hearing people need to understand both their language and culture to effectively share the Word of God and Christ with the deaf.

Sundays:

  • 9:00 a.m. Sunday school
  • 10:30 a.m. Morning Worship in the Prayer Chapel

Wednesdays:

  • 7:00 p.m. Bible study

The Deaf Chapel’s focuses on:

  • Spiritual Ministry: meeting the spiritual needs of the deaf community. Due to cultural and linguistic barriers, many hearing churches are unprepared to meet or understand the spiritual needs of deaf people.
  • Worship/Evangelism: emphasizing living a life for Jesus Christ, allowing God to minister to and through deaf people.
  • Fellowship: providing monthly social events. This outreach presents the gospel and provides an opportunity to fellowship with other deaf people while establishing lasting relationships.
